Pride Comes Before the Snare

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3). This falling away is a departure from God’s truths. As with the original Fall in the Garden of Eden, it begins with pride. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).
 
This falling away is the prideful decision that mankind has a right and the knowledge to decide what truth is and how it should be applied. In effect, it is the right to be gods and do whatever seems right at the time. This is the banner of humanism.
 
It’s playing god by considering the use of high-flying jets to spray calcium carbonate dust into our upper atmosphere to block the sun. Never mind that once it is there we have no control over how much sun is blocked out or for how long, and that it can bring about a devastating Ice Age. It’s playing god by genetically modifying seeds and crops, no matter what the impact on the landscape of the earth. It’s playing god by creating artificial intelligence that can accelerate beyond human control.
 
It’s a replay of the great evil that covered the earth before the great Flood of Noah’s time. Genesis 6:13 records God’s response: And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” God even told Noah when this divine reset would happen—in 120 years.
 
Revelation 11:18 assures us that God will intervene again before mankind’s prideful actions destroy the earth. The next divine reset happens at the 7th Day, the Day of the Lord. It begins with the King of kings returning to gather His Church at the rapture so that we can be seated with Christ as the heavenly, immortal government. Then the wrath of that Day is unleashed as God’s vengeance against evil.
 
Scripture calls this the snare of that Day. But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.  For you yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.  For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.  But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the Day. 2 Thessalonians 5:3-5.
 
This is why knowing both the chronos times and the kairos signs are so vital. We are sons and daughters of the Day!  We need not fear the evil plans because we know they will be cut short by God’s reset.
