Partakers of the Anointing - Part One

What is the Spirit saying to believers today in these troubled times? “Be mindful of the Rock of your stronghold” (Isaiah 17:10).

Our Rock is Jesus Christ. Our stronghold is the message of comfort, hope, and victory in Him. It is the truth Peter declared in 2 Peter 1:2-4.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

We are called to the same earthly ministry as Jesus. At His first coming, our Lord declared His ministry as recorded in Luke 4:18-19.

• to preach the good news of the gospel (Christ’s finished work) to the poor (without this life-saving knowledge)
•  to heal the brokenhearted
• to proclaim liberty to the captives (those enslaved and by the chains of the devil)
• to bring sight to those who are blinded in any way
• to set at liberty those who are oppressed
• to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord—the appointed time of release

Quoting from Isaiah 61, Jesus stopped mid-sentence.  Why? Because He was declaring the purpose of the New Covenant of grace which He would initiate at the cross and secure through His resurrection.

As the time draws very near for Christ’s return, it is now time for us to proclaim the rest of the prophecy from Isaiah. We’ll see what that looks like in the next post.
