The Appointed Day is the Lord’s Day, the Day of the Lord, and the last Day or 7th Day in God’s prophetic timetable, which is also the 3rd Day when counting from Jesus’ ministry.
As we saw in the last blog, the final sign before this 1,000-year great Day is total celestial darkness over all the earth. This God-ordained darkness brings a snare to those in the kingdom of darkness. They are thinking “peace and safety.” They are thinking that their plans for a one-world order are finally coming to pass. They are thinking that world is ripe for the taking.
Even as the forces of darkness deceive the world, they are blinded by an even greater deception. They are not in power; the earth is not theirs. The earth belongs to God (Psalm 24:1). He has appointed a time for His vengeance against evil and for His wrath to come upon the unrighteous.
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead (Acts 17:30-31).
Understanding the chronos timing and the kairos signs together lets us see that this appointed Day shall occur within this decade. This knowing should comfort us because we know the plans of the wicked will not fully come to pass. This knowing should give us a future hope because we know that, as believers, we shall be raptured in order to take our seat as the heavenly government to execute this justice.
But it also gives us a “now hope” to continue to fulfill our assignment to make disciples, to bring in an 11th hour harvest, to let our lights shine amidst the darkness, and to not let it overwhelm us. His grace empowers us to make a difference in our world, where He has placed us, and where we can influence those around us for good and for God. In this we stand in victory (Ephesians 6:10-13).
This justice was prophesied in the 70 Weeks prophecy of Daniel. It is the last half of the 70th Week, which was paused when the Jews rejected Christ as the Messiah. The prophecy is resumed when the Jews see Christ coming in the clouds and finally accept Him as the true Messiah.
The first 31/2 years of the Day of the Lord is when the Antichrist and his coalition of armies come against Israel and against Christ. Needless to say, we know Who wins. This knowing assures us of victory.
